    • PURPOSE: An intake air flow rate increasing device and method of a compressed natural gas engine is provided to increase an intake air flow rate by using additional high-pressure CNG(Compressed Natural Gas) without simply reducing the pressure of CNG. CONSTITUTION: From an RPM sensor and a velocity sensor, the RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) and velocity of a CNG engine are detected(S1,S2). Then the increasing of suction air is decided at the current high velocity and high load of the CNG engine. If CNG is at the high velocity and high load(S3), a pressure reducing regulator and a solenoid valve are turned on(S4,S5). Thereby, a turbine is rotated to increase an intake air flow rate through an air pipe(S6). the CNG is supplied through the air pipe together with air to cause the excessive supply of fuel. To prevent this, the amount of the CNG into the air pipe through the turbine is detected. If the current amount of the CNG exceeds reference value(S8), a small amount of fuel is injected through an injector to keep the total amount of fuel lower than specific reference value(S9). If the CNG engine is not in the high velocity and high load, the pressure reducing regulator is stopped and the solenoid valve is turned off(S10,S11). Then, the turbine is stopped(S12). Therefore, the intake air flow rate through the air pipe is not increased any more.
