    • PURPOSE: Device for treating cells in the asynchronous transfer mode switches is provided to prevent a head of lone(HOL) blocking generated between unicast cell and mutlicast cell by provide the multicast cell with allocating multicast connection identifier(MCI) and prevent an excessive cell loss under the multicast circumstance. CONSTITUTION: A shared multiple buffer(110) is used to store cells introduced into a crosspoint switch or multiplexer, and an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) switch by a generic control block to output into distinguished multicast cell and unicast cell. An MCI address queue(120) stores buffer addresses for the crosspoint switch or multiplexer, and the ATM switch. A unicast cell address queue stores a buffer address of the unicast cell. A plurality of out ports receives cells from the MCI address queue and the unicast cell address queue to delivery to corresponding addresses. The shared multiple buffer is adopted to be read three times at a time, the MCI address queue indicates each out ports and reading pointer as many as one writing pointer and the above mentioned out ports, the out port determines which cells to be output by means of the length of the queue when the multicast cell and unicast cell are arrived at the same time.

    • PURPOSE: A shared memory type asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) switch enabling a multi-cast service, is provided to add a multi-cast controller, a multi-cast control table, a multi-cast list number unit, and a multi-cast schedule queue, so as to perform a repetitive cell reproduction function for a multi-cast cell. CONSTITUTION: A cell buffer(30) temporarily stores an inputted cell. A connection control table(23) stores connection control information corresponding to cell header information. A connection controller(22) reads and delivers the connection control information by using the cell header information. A transmission controller(29) receives an address of the cell buffer(30) and the cell header information to read a corresponding cell from the cell buffer(30), and converts/outputs the header information. A receiving controller(21) receives the connection control information from the connection controller(22) to store the inputted cell in the cell buffer(30), and delivers multi-cast schedule information. A multi-cast schedule queue(25-1) stores the multi-cast schedule information. A scheduler(24) receives the multi-cast schedule information from the receiving controller(21) to record the multi-cast schedule information in the multi-cast schedule queue(25-1), and reads/delivers the multi-cast schedule information from the multi-cast schedule queue(25-1) according to a multi-cast scheduling policy. A multi-cast control table(27) stores cell reproduction control information for a multi-cast service. A multi-cast list number unit(28) stores a multi-cast list number which is the number of addresses in a cell reproduction list according to addresses of a cell reproduction group. A multi-cast controller(26) receives the multi-cast schedule information from the scheduler(24) to read the cell reproduction control information from the multi-cast control table(24), and reads the multi-cast list number from the multi-cast list number unit(28). And the multi-cast controller(26) delivers the cell buffer address included in the multi-cast schedule information and the cell header information included in read cell reproduction control information to the transmission controller(29).

    • PURPOSE: A method of allocating a multicast route for a service sensitive to delay in an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) communication network is provided to allocate a route using a virtual path(VP) branching node when the multicast route is assigned in the ATM communication network, so as to improve usage efficiency of a link, and to retrieve a VP branching node having a minimum delay relating to network nodes in an initialization process to designate the VP branching node, then to allocate a minimal cost of route instead of an economic route relating to a group member exceeding a maximum permissible delay relating to a searched VP tree route, so as to reduce a processing complexity. CONSTITUTION: An asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) communication network inputs physical network configuring information to make out a physical network configuring table, and makes out a virtual path(VP) branching node table. The system finds a minimal cost connection route from a multicast group configuring request, and integrates VP branching nodes. The system allocates a minimal delay route and informs a source node of a route allocating result. The step of making out the VP branching node table comprises as follows. The ATM communication system configures a subnet connected to a VP branching node from the physical network configuring table. The system searches a minimal delay route between the VP branching node and all the nodes connected to the subnet. The system calculates an average delay and a cost value relating to a searched connection route, and records the calculated average delay and the cost value. The system decides whether route retrievals relating to all routes are completed. If not, the system performs from the step of searching the minimal delay route. If the route retrievals are completed, the system decides whether retrievals relating to all the VP branching nodes are completed. If not, the system performs from the step of configuring the subnet. If the retrievals are completed, the system sorts retrieval results relating to user connection nodes, and stores the sorted results.

CONSTITUTION: An asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) switching system is composed of a Banyan network and a transmission network. A multicasting network in the ATM switching system comprises a header encoder(40) and a boolean splitter network(BSN). The header encoder generates a header to transmit the header to the Banyan network. The BSN copies cells rooted in the Banyan network, and transmits the cells to the transmission network. The BSN is composed of many boolean splitters(BSs). Each of the BSs divides destination addresses of cells into an upper group and a lower group. If an upper input port is activated, each of the BSs selects destination addresses of the upper group. If a lower input port is activated, each of the BSs selects destination addresses of the lower group.

CONSTITUTION: A multicasting service system comprises a 1st memory(22), a 2nd memory(23), a VPI/VCI(Virtual Path Identifier/Virtual Channel Identifier) conversion/cell copying circuit(11), FIFO1s(24-1,n), and FIFO2s(25-1,n). The 1st memory(22) stores a table on VPI/VCI conversion values in relation with broadcasting cells transmitted to each subscriber via different physical lines. The 2nd memory(23) stores a table on VPI/VCI conversion values in relation with broadcasting cells transmitted to each subscriber via the same physical line. The VPI/VCI conversion/cell copying circuit(11) converts the VPI/VCI value, read from the memories(22,23) according to the service characteristics of a transmitted ATM cell, into the VPI/VCI, and copies the correspondent ATM cell. The FIFO1s(24-1,n) transiently stores one cell among cells transmitted to subscribers via the same physical line from the VPI/VCI conversion/cell copying circuit(11). The FIFO2s(25-1,n)transiently stores the remnant cells among cells transmitted to subscribers via the same physical line from the VPI/VCI conversion/cell copying circuit(11).

    • PURPOSE: An ATM(Asynchronous transfer mode) cell dividing device is provided to support broadcast and multicast functions. CONSTITUTION: According to control data transmitted from a host controller, a control register(121), N-1 numbers of port registers(122-125) and a broadcast register(126) are set. An UTOPIA(Universal Test and Operations PHY Interface for ATM) interface part(150) receives the cells transmitted from the network. A delay part(160) delays the ATM cell by a predetermined clock according to the control signal. A comparative part(130) compares a header of the ATM cell with a setting value of the port register or a setting value of the broadcast register, and outputs the result thereof. N numbers of FIFOs(170a-170e) sequentially store the ATM cells transmitted from the delay part and sequentially output them. A controller(140) transfers the control signal for selecting the register value to the comparative part and the delay part, and also transfers the control signal to the FIFO of the port which is selected by receiving the comparison result from the comparative part so as to store the received ATM cell. Accordingly, broadcast and multicast functions can be easily performed, thereby simplifying the device configuration for processing the received cell and providing various functions additionally.
