    • PURPOSE: A distribution loss reduction device and a method thereof are provided to calculate a section in which a loss value is minimized by considering the change of sectional loads by determining a random period for calculating minimum loss. CONSTITUTION: A loss estimation period(d1-dn) is selected(S100). A loss value of distribution systems(D1-Dn) which are different from each other is calculated in a loss estimation period(S110). Total loss values are calculated by using each loss value of the distribution systems set in each point(S120). Specific line loss values are calculated by considering the change of section loads in the loss estimation period(S130). Loss minimization reference point is set in the loss estimation period(S140). The distribution system corresponding to the loss minimization reference point is constructed again(S150).
