    • PURPOSE: High strength and high ductility magnesium alloy is provided to reduce thermal crack in a processing process, such as an extruding process, since secondary thermal stability is enhanced. CONSTITUTION: High strength and high ductility magnesium alloy consists of Zn of 4.5~7.0 weight%, Zr of 0.4~1.0 weight%, Cu of 0.2~1.5 weight%, Ce of 0.1~2.0 weight%, magnesium and inevitable impurities. The MM is cerium rich misch metal. The maximum extrusion rate of the MG is 8m/min or faster. An alloy element, such as, Cu, Ce or MM is added to Mg-Zn-Zr alloy, fine eduction particles are formed in a magnesium base and grains are micronized. Cu, Ce or MM is added to the Mg-Zn-Zr alloy and thus strength and ductility can be enhanced.

    • PURPOSE: A cooling apparatus for an indirect extruder and cooling method are provided to increase extrusion rate by directly contacting a cooling medium of high pressure and an extruded material and to extend the lifetime of parts of the extruder. CONSTITUTION: A cooling apparatus for an indirect extruder comprises a stem(10), a die(20), a billet(30), a thermocouple(60). The thermocouple is settled in a thermocouple groove(25). The thermocouple grove is continuously included on the outer circumference of the stem and the die. A cooling medium cools the stem while passing through a cooling medium transfer pipe. The cooling medium cools the die while passing through a cooling medium dispersion tube. The cooling medium cools an extruded material while being directly sprayed on the extruded material after passing through the cooling medium dispersion tube.
