    • An apparatus for adjusting luminous intensity of a light source, in particular, at least one light source of a tail lamp of a motor vehicle, and a method for adjusting luminous intensity are provided to discriminate the tail lamp and the vehicle according to the tail lamp under the general field of vision condition, by considering external influences like field of vision, rain drop, external temperature, vehicle speed and steering angle. In an apparatus for adjusting luminous intensity of a light source, in particular, at least one light source of a tail lamp of a motor vehicle, more than one sensor senses surrounding environment variables and supplies a signal specific to the corresponding surrounding environment to an evaluation unit. The evaluation unit adjusts luminous intensity of the light source. The apparatus further comprises more than one sensor(13,26) sensing more than one influence variable(Ix,T,D,V,I,v,w,R,Ix2,PD) and then supplies a signal evaluated for adjusting luminous intensity of a light source(18) together with a signal specific to the surrounding environment.
