    • A lightweight filter media is provided to solve problems of conventional filter media that the lightweight nanofiber layer is vulnerable to damage in high mechanical stress applications, and conventional media substrates have mechanical stress limitations and are easily deformed under high dust loading. A composite filter media structure(10) comprises: a corrugated base substrate(12) comprising a synthetic nonwoven fabric manufactured by a dry-laid process that corrugates the base substrate during the forming process; and a nanofiber membrane(20) deposited on at least one side of the base substrate by an electro-blown spinning process. The nonwoven fabric comprises a plurality of fibers, the fibers comprising at least one of polyester fibers, polyamide fibers, polyolefin fibers, thermoplastic polyurethane fibers, polyetherimide fibers, polyphenyl ether fibers, polyphenylene sulfide fibers, polysulfone fibers, and aramid fibers. The base substrate has a basis weight of about 100 to about 300 g/m^2. The composite filter media structure comprises a corrugation pitch(C) of about 1.2 to about 3.9 corrugations(18) per cm, the corrugations having an effective trough depth(D) of about 0.5 mm. The nanofiber membrane comprises a plurality of nanofibers having an average diameter of about 500 nm or less. The nanofiber membrane has a basis weight of about 0.6 to about 20 g/m^2.
