A converter and the driving method thereof includes a square wave generating unit(100), a voltage supply portion(200) and switch control part(400). The square wave generating unit converts an input signal into the square signal by using at least one switch(101,102). The voltage supply unit generates outputs voltage according to the square wave signal, and the switch control part produces the first signal. The switch control part controls the switching operation of the switch by using the first signal and it also controls a burst mode according to sensing result of the level of the first current and the first signal.

The switching transistor counts the timing when a voltage level of the first signal is the same as a reference voltage, after the switching transistor is turned off. After the counted number is the same as a reference number, the switching transistor determines a turn on timing of the switching transistor.
