The device is so constituted that the identification groove of the first disk cartridge coincides with the shape of an identification projecting part 20 of the first drive assembly 19 and the first disk cartridge is made loadable when the first disk cartridge is inserted into the first drive assembly 19 and that the identification groove 24 of the disk cartridge 21 of the kind different from the identification projecting part 20 does not coincide and the loading of this disk cartridge is made infeasible when the disk cartridge 21 of the different kind is inserted into the first drive assembly 19.

The thickness of other regions excluding respective protrusion parts 27, 28 is formed to be thin. As a result, a flexible magnetic disk 5 can be turned and driven stably.

    • PURPOSE: A loading device of a disk cartridge is provided to comprise a reverse insertion preventing unit such that a disk cartridge can be always inserted in correct position, thereby preventing an apparatus damage caused by a wrong operation. CONSTITUTION: An interference projection(244) is protruded from a tray(240). A portion of a disk cartridge is more lowly made with the stepped difference as much as the thickness of a shutter. The interference projection(244) has the same or slightly smaller protrusion height as or than a depth(d) of the stepped difference. The interference projection(244) is formed in an area contacted with a reference surface when a disk cartridge(20) is reversely inserted within an area lower than the reference surface of the disk cartridge(20). If an opposite side of the shutter(21) is first inserted, the disk cartridge(20) is lifted up by the interference projection(244).
