摘要： The invention provides an alumina ceramic containing a Ba 0.808 Al 1.71 Si 2.29 O 8 phase. The alumina ceramic has high reflectivity and is useful as a reflecting material for a light emitting element. The alumina ceramic which exhibits an X-ray diffraction pattern having a ratio of the peak intensity at 29=43.3° to that at 22.5° of 0.5 to 2.5 has particularly high reflectivity. The alumina ceramic of the invention shows high reflectivity particularly at wavelengths ranging from 300 to 400 nm.

A method for manufacturing ceramic slurry comprises the following steps of: performing a first dispersing process to a mixture including at least minor component powder in order to control minor component slurry; adding main component powder to the minor component slurry; and performing a second dispersing process so as to obtain ceramic slurry. The minor component powder is one or more compounds having one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ba, Ca, Si, Mn, Al, V, Dy, Y, Ho and Yb. The minor component powder of the minor component slurry has less than 0.1mum of average particle size.

摘要： A process for producing a ceramic multilayer substrate, in which a ceramic substrate having a desirably patterned split-level area can be efficiently produced without the need of complex production steps and production facilities; and a ceramic substrate of high configuration accuracy produced by the production process. On a major surface of unfired ceramic matter (10), while causing auxiliary layer (20) of a material substantially not sintered at the temperature during the firing of the unfired ceramic matter (10) to closely adhere thereto, there is provided auxiliary-layer-furnished unfired ceramic matter (11) having split-level area (15) on its major surface. This auxiliary-layer-furnished unfired ceramic matter in the state of being furnished with the auxiliary layer is fired at a temperature at which the unfired ceramic matter is sintered but the auxiliary layer is substantially not sintered. Die (30) having convex area (22) is caused to match the auxiliary layer lying side of the auxiliary-layer-furnished unfired ceramic matter, and pressed. Thus, split-level area (concave area) (15(15a)) having a configuration corresponding to that of the contour of the convex area (22) is generated in the auxiliary layer lying side of the auxiliary-layer-furnished unfired ceramic matter.
