    • PURPOSE: A crack diagnosis device of a solidified shell inside a mold and a diagnosis method thereof are provided to reduce correction costs with respect to a slab by scarfing a surface of the slab when cracks are vertically occurred only. CONSTITUTION: A crack diagnosis device(100) of a solidified shell(81) inside a mold(30) comprises a temperature detecting part(110) and a control unit(190). The temperature detecting part comprises a plurality of temperature detecting members(111,112). The temperature detecting members are divided into a first group(101) and second group(102) based on an area where cracks are possible to be occurred. The control unit collects data related to a mold by using each temperature detecting members of the second group during a set unit hour. The control unit calculates a temperature deviation between the maximum temperature just before a temperature drop and the minimum temperature in the temperature drop per each temperature detecting member from the collected temperature data. The control unit diagnoses the crack occurrence inside the mold by using the maximum temperature deviation.
