An ensemble of a base layer and the ensemble of an enhancement layer are produced from data content of a broadcast signal. A base layer ensemble processor(130) comprises a base layer service component. The enhancement layer ensemble comprises an enhancement layer service component. Ensemble transfer frames of the basic layer and the enhancement layer are individually generated from the ensemble of the base layer and the ensemble of the enhancement layer. The ensemble transfer frames of the enhancement layer and the base layer are transmitted. The ensemble transfer frame of the enhancement layer comprises service control information.

    • An apparatus and a method for demodulation in a transmission system are provided to improve reception of an addition layer by using a pilot existing in an addition layer signal. A receiver(210) receives the signal in the form of a transfer frame and the signal comprises a phase reference symbol, a fast information channel and a main service channel. A pilot information storage unit(230) stores location information of a pilot included in the main service channel. A primary channel estimating unit(244) channel-estimates the phase reference symbol and outputs a primary channel estimated value. According to the channel estimated value of the phase reference symbol, the second channel estimating unit(245) channel-estimates the fast information channel and outputs the second channel estimated value. According to the channel estimated value on the basis of the location information of the pilot the fast information channel, a third channel estimating unit(246) channel-estimates the main service channel and outputs the third channel estimated value. According to the primary channel estimated value, the second channel estimated value and the third channel estimated value, a channel equalization part(247) channel-equalizes the signal and outputs a channel-equalized signal.

A basic hierarchical channel encoder(110) generates a basic layer symbol string by encoding the basic layer signal string. The correlation value generator correlates a synchronization signal, which is included in a time domain reception signal, with a reference signal, and generates a correlation value in the time domain. The frame synchronization estimator compares the time domain correlation value with a reference value. The gain estimator determines a gain based on the time domain correlation value. The symbol timing offset unit detects a sample index of the correlation value with the determined gain.

    • A two-way service method using a target-specified command integrated with broadcasting is provided to receive participation of viewers in an environment having no two-way communication channel without obstructing the viewer viewing the broadcasting by making the viewer input an opinion conveniently without connecting to a homepage and using a usual viewer participation system without any modification. A target-specified command link is inserted in a broadcasting editing process and broadcasting including the link is broadcasted(S10), and a broadcasting reception terminal receives the broadcasting, and the link is displayed in a screen by using an object such as a button or a character(S20). Activated information among the links displayed in the screen is transferred to a server or a command pointed by the broadcasting reception terminal is executed in the server(S30). The information transferred to the server or an execution result of the server is reflected on a broadcasting production process(S40). The target-specified command uses an ARS(Automatic Response Service), SMS(Short Message Service), server, or client command type depending on the used server or service type.

    • A method for providing and extracting link information by using an FIC(Fast Information Channel) is provided to offer and extract the link information such as a URL(Uniform Resource Locator) and a phone number without an additional device in a terrestrial DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) system. An ensemble multiplexer assigns a link flag to a link flag region(600). The ensemble multiplexer sets a link type in a link type region(602). The ensemble multiplexer inserts link information into a character region(604). The ensemble multiplexer compares the currently inserted link information with previously inserted link information and judges whether the link information is changed(606). If the link information is changed, the ensemble multiplexer changes a link version number of a version number region(608). If the link information is not changed, the ensemble multiplexer inserts a current part number of the currently inserted link information into a current part number region, and inserts the last part number of the currently inserted link information into the last part number region(610).
