    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining a steam weight rate of wet steam present in a steam turbine.SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: radiating a plurality of wavelengths from an optical probe 52 through the wet steam; using the optical probe 54 to measure intensities of the wet steam corresponding to the plurality of respective wavelengths radiated through the wet steam; determining intensity ratio vectors by dividing the intensities of the wet steam corresponding to the plurality of wavelength by corresponding intensities of dry steam; continuously applying scaling factors to the intensity vectors so as to obtain a scaled intensity ratio; calculating suitable values for the respective scaling factors so as to obtain a plurality of residues; determining a minimum residue among the plurality of residues; determining a droplet granularity distribution by calculating number densities of droplets corresponding to the minimum residue; and determining the steam weight rate based upon the droplet granularity distribution.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a specific gravity of refuse stored in a hopper by an inexpensive device configuration, and to easily carry out bridge detection also.
      SOLUTION: A plurality of pressure sensors 9 is attached at certain intervals in vertical and horizontal directions on a sidewall of the hopper 2 storing refuse W. Presence or absence of refuse in the hopper 2 at pressure sensor attachment positions are detected by electric signals from the pressure sensors 9. Refuse weight of a predetermined section is calculated on the basis of the electric signals from the vertically arranged pressure sensors 9, a refuse volume of the predetermined section is calculated from the electric signals and attachment position information of the pressure sensors 9, and the refuse specific gravity is calculated from the calculated refuse weight and refuse volume.
