    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze oil such as machine oil contained in soil by a simple method which does not affect environmental pollution.SOLUTION: A method for analyzing oil in soil includes: a step of dissolving oil contained in soil in a lower alcohol by mixing a soil sample with the water soluble lower alcohol such as ethanol; a step of filtering the mixture and adding water to the filtrate; a step of promoting homogeneous separation of oil particles in the solution by physically stirring the whole solution by supplying nitrogen gas in bubbles in the condition that the lower alcohol is dissolved in water; and a step of measuring the scattering condition of thereby deposited oil particles using a transmission photometer.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzing method of a sulfoxide-type sulfur component in the sulfur component in insulating oil capable of simply measuring the sulfoxide-type sulfur component in the sulfur component contained in the insulating oil, with high sensitivity.
      SOLUTION: The analyzing method of the sulfoxide-type sulfur component in the total sulfur component in the insulating oil has the process which uses a predetermined amount of the insulating oil as sample oil to pass the sample oil or a sample, which is prepared by making the sample oil dissolve in a non-polar solvent, through a silica gel, to make the sulfoxide-type sulfur component adsorb on the silica gel and the process for passing a polar solvent through the silica gel, to desorb the sulfoxide-type sulfur component from the silica gel and containing the desorbed sulfoxide-type sulfur component in the polar solvent. The sulfoxide-type sulfur component contained in the polar solvent is analyzed.
