SOLUTION: In an indentation tester 100, a predetermined reference block is used as a sample S to measure test results under a plurality of temperature environments; a test error caused by temperature environment (an test error accompanied by heat expansion of the integral of the indentation tester 100 at a temperature of the sample) is calculated based on the test result; whether the test result is within a predetermined range or not is determined; and test results of the sample S other than the reference block are corrected based on the test error.     • PURPOSE: To provide a hardness meter which can move a warped test without contacting a spot anvil. CONSTITUTION: A spot anvil 5 is provided at a placement stand 4 for placing a test piece while the placement stand 4 is laid out opposite to an indenter 6. The hardness meter is provided with an upper press member 31 which is driven by a cylinder device 32 and holds and clamps the test piece to the placement stand 4 from an upper part and a lower press member 33 which is driven by a cylinder device 34 and clamps the test piece from a lower part between itself and the upper press member 31. The thrust of the cylinder device 32 is reduced as compared with that of the cylinder device 34. Therefore, while the test piece is clamped by the upper press member 31 against the placement stand 4, the lower press member 33 is driven upward by the cylinder device 34 and the test piece is clamped by the upper/lower press members 32 and 33, thus retreating the test piece upward from the spot anvil.

    • PURPOSE:To take a measurement stably by providing an energizing mechanism which energizes down a sample presser for pressing a sample against a sample cradle when the sample presser engages the sample. CONSTITUTION:The sample cradle 4 is supported on a machine frame 1 through a screw shaft 5 and a nut 6 for the upward/downward movement of the screw shaft, which is driven upward and downward through the rotation of the nut 6 together with the sample cradle 4. Then, the sample presser 12 which is formed cylindrically contains the tip part of an indenter 13 and its lower end part engages the sample 3 placed on the sample cradle 4; and a cylindrical stopper 8 contains an indenter shaft 11, the sample presser 12, and the energizing means S, and its upper end part is fixed to the machine frame 1 with a screw 10 concentrically with the indenter 13. The sample presser 12 is inserted loosely into a stopper 8 in a relative displacing state and the large-diameter part 12a of the sample presser 12 is guided to the lower end part of a support cylinder 8 through a guide surface 8a and a collar part 8b which are formed conically and locked concentrically with the indenter 13.
