SOLUTION: The burner for mixing a vaporized liquid fuel with an oxygen-containing gas to form an air fuel mixture and burning the air-fuel mixture comprises an oxygen-containing gas inlet port for introducing the oxygen-containing gas at the inlet, the burner mat provided at the outlet, a gas passage including a liquid fuel nozzle for flowing down the liquid fuel and a heating surface for vaporizing the flowed liquid fuel; and an igniter having a ground electrode arranged in contact with the surface opposite to the gas passage of the burner mat and a high-voltage electrode arranged in a position capable of generating spark with the ground electrode.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable utilization for the vaporization of a liquid fuel at the ignition by a method wherein a heat storage section is provided in a combustion device, from which heat, stored is transmitted to a vaporizing part at the ignition and quickly raises the temperature of the vaporizing part to store combustion heat during the combustion. SOLUTION: The temperature of a vaporizing part 7 is raised by heating with a heater 10 and a liquid fuel 3 is pressurized by a pump 4 to be injected through a nozzle 6 from a fuel tank 2 and vaporized by the vaporizing part 7. Then, air is sent and is mixed with the vaporized fuel by a mixing part 11 and the mixture is sent to a flame hole 13 of a burner head 12 to be ignited by the action of an ignitor 14. With the continuation of the combustion, a heat receiving part 9 is heated by a flame 15 to raise the temperature thereof and the transferring of combustion heat is started from the heat receiving part 9 to the vaporizing part 7 while the outputted of the heater 10 is lowered according to the amount of the transmitted combustion heat. Upon the start of the combustion, a heat storage section 16 operates an actuator 19a to open open/close lids 20a and 20b. A combustion gas passes through the heat storage section 16 and heats a regenerator body to raise the temperature thereof. This eliminates the need for electric energization of the heater thereby allowing the lowering of a running cost.
