    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stick type ignition coil whose positioning can be made by a radius direction when being inserted into a plug hole, even if a surrounding core is located in the outermost layer of a coil portion. SOLUTION: The stick type ignition coil includes a center core 11, a secondary coil 13 and a primary coil 17 which are located on a surrounding side of the center core and contain a spool and a winding wound around its surrounding surface, respectively, a coil portion 10 which contains a surrounding core 23 of the outermost layer located on the surrounding side of the primary coil or the secondary coil positioned on the surrounding side, an upper case 41 which is combined on a top of the coil portion, and a first positioning portion 48 which is formed away in the first axial direction from the middle of the axis of surrounding core and abuts or located nearby the inside surrounding surface of the first hole portion 67 of the plug hole 65.
