    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric containing polyolefin based fibers, which is capable of securing papermaking stability, preventing winding slippage and winding wrinkles, holding a good thickness profile in a width direction, and having strength and a low density, and to provide a separator for a battery including the nonwoven fabric, which is excellent in liquid-retention properties with a long life.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric containing at least polyolefin based fibers, in which a nonwoven fabric 3 is obtained by forming a fiber web by a wet papermaking method, drying the fiber web in a drying system including a Yankee dryer 1 and a hot air hood type dryer 2, and then press bonding the dried fiber web with a touch roll 4 having a clearance adjusting jack 5 attached thereto for adjusting a gap with the Yankee dryer 1. The touch roll 4 has an internal structure of a water cooling type. There is provided the nonwoven fabric 3 obtained by manufacturing a nonwoven fabric by the method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric. There is provided a separator for a battery obtained by subjecting the nonwoven fabric to a sulfonation treatment for hydrophilization.
