    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely confirm whether cutting of a rod material is complete or defective while damage to a device is avoided.SOLUTION: A control device 3 (a device for confirming cutting of a workpiece) is provided which is used for a cutting apparatus 1. The cutting apparatus includes: a pair of front main shaft 21 and a rear main shaft 23 that are arranged oppositely in the axial direction and can synchronously rotate around the shafts while each holding one workpiece W; and a cutting tool 25 that cuts the workpiece W clamped by the pair of front main shaft 21 and the rear main shaft 23, into a workpiece body part W1 clamped by the front main shaft 21 and a workpiece cut part W2 clamped by the rear main shaft 23. The control device 3 includes: a position detecting section 35 which detects the position of the workpiece body part W1; and a condition discriminating section 39 which discriminates cut state of the workpiece W using a position of the workpiece body part W1 detected by the position detecting section 35 and detected when the rear main shaft 23 moves in a direction receding from the front main shaft 21 while clamping the workpiece cut part W2, in a state in which the workpiece body part W1 is released by the front main shaft 21.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod feeder which can easily grasp the number of rods on a material shelf.
      SOLUTION: The rod feeder for feeding the rods to a guide rail one by one is formed of the material shelf (8) having the rods (W) mounted on an inclined shelf surface (10) and arranged abreast in a rank; a thrusting member (12) for thrusting the rod on a most upstream side to a downstream side; a drive mechanism (14) for reciprocating the thrusting member (12); a thrusting member location detecting device for detecting the location of the thrusting member (12); a sensor (16) for sensing that the rod on the most downstream side is thrust; a display device; and a controller. When the sensor (16) senses that the rod has been thrust, the controller calculates a distance from a downstream edge (38) to the thrusting member (12) in response to a signal from the thrusting member location detecting device, and obtains the number of the rods on the shelf surface, based on the distance and a diameter of the rod input beforehand, to thereby display the number of the rods on the display device.
