An open end of a U-shaped frame 14 is screwed to the front wall 10 and the bottom wall 13 of the flange 12, box construction is formed as a whole and a rugged and light-weight structure is constituted. A solid-state image pickup element 7 and a signal processing circuit 16 ar stored in an area surrounded by a frame 14 and the circuits are shielded electromagentically by the frame 14 and the flange 12.

    • PURPOSE:To assure automatic focusing control by setting forcibly the working position of a focusing mechanism at the long distance side based on the detection output obtained by a position detector in case the unmatched state of pictures formed by the light of a subject is large. CONSTITUTION:The image pickup output delivered through an automatic gain control circuit 12 is supplied to a contrast detecting circuit 18 consisting of an HPF15, a gate circuit 16 and a peak detecting circuit 17. The contrast detecting output obtained by the circuit 18 is supplied to a discriminating circuit 45 of an automatic focusing control part 40. While a position detector 70 detects the operation part of a focal lens part 2 of a main optical system and supplies this position detection output to the circuit 45. The circuit 45 detects that the main optical system has a big out-of-focus image state when the unmatched state of pictures formed by the light of an object is large. Then the focusing operation position is set forcibly at the long distance side based on the detection output of the detector 70.

Respective cells 300 of the sensors 120-1 and 120-2 are driven in the order of raster scans on an image-formed image 116, so picture-element signals appear at the video output 124 in the order of raster scans on picture elements that one field contains, and are stored in storage locations of a video memory 1006 in the raster scan order as digital signals.
