    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-blast circuit breaker having arc-extinguishing performance in which dielectric strength between poles is increased by reducing a quantity of a high temperature gas generated by first time cutoff in a high speed reclosing duty remaining in a self-actuated chamber to lower the gas temperature of an arc-extinguishing gas 16 in the self-actuated chamber and lower the temperature of the gas blown during the second time cutoff.SOLUTION: This gas-blast circuit breaker includes the self-actuated chamber filled with the arc-extinguishing gas, a machine room filled with the arc-extinguishing gas and screened from the self-actuated chamber by an intermediate wall, a piston for changing the volume of the machine room during current interrupting operation and during throwing-in operation, a vent hole provided in the intermediate wall and penetrated through the self-actuated chamber and the machine room, and a first valve provided in the intermediate wall to prevent the arc-extinguishing gas from flowing into the machine room from the self-actuated chamber. During the throwing-in operation, the arc-extinguishing gas filled in the self-actuated chamber flows into the machine room through the vent hole.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-blast circuit breaker which, even if an arc-caused blocking phenomenon occurs in an insulating nozzle, effectively gives a spray gas a swirling component to improve large current cut-off performance.
      SOLUTION: The insulating nozzle 4 is disposed to encircle a contact portion between a fixed arc contact 1 and a movable arc contact 2, and guides a flow of a spray gas to cause it to act on an arc between both arc contacts 1 and 2. The throat 12 of the insulating nozzle 4 has a plurality of swirling component slots 13a to 13n formed circumferentially at almost equal intervals. These swirling component slots 13a to 13n are formed to be tilt against the basic direction of the flow of the spray gas so as to give the spray gas flowing through the slots 13a to 13n an aggressive swirling component.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of arc extinguishing capability due to low density of an arc-extinguishable gas flow in the initial stage of a circuit opening operation by communicating a buffer chamber of a buffer cylinder add the hollow part of a cylinder through a connection hole of the cylinder in a state that a fixed contactor and a movable contact are brought into contact. SOLUTION: A second piston 12 is moved into a fixed piston 8 through an operation rod 13 in a container of a gas circuit breaker filled with an arc- extinguishable gas and a buffer cylinder 7 integrally attached to the tip of the cylinder 17 attached to the piston 12, a movable contact 4, ad an insulated nozzle 2 are moved in the left direction. Consequently, the fixed contactor 1 is moved into the throat of the insulated nozzle 2 to be brought into contact with the movable contactor 4. In such a state, a connection hole 12 formed in the cylinder 17 is communicated with a buffer chamber 5 constituted of the buffer cylinder 7, a piston 8, and the cylinder 17. Consequently, at the time of starting the circuit opening operation, the gas in the buffer chamber 5 is supplied to the cylinder 17 through a hollow part 16 and the density of the arc-extinguishable gas blown through a small hole 14 is prevented from lowering.
