    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the combustion of an oil burning appliance even when the combustion is small in scale by regulating the air flowing in the appliance through an air flow-through hole. SOLUTION: In this combustion stabilizing structure, a wick 4 is vertically movably fitted in the space of a wick housing pipe 3 composed of a wick inner pipe 1 and a wick outer pipe 2 and the wick 4 is vertically moved by rotating a wick pipe 7 by means of a wick raising/lowering device 6 housed adjacently to the outside of the wick housing pipe 3 in an air chamber 5. The air flow- through hole 8 communicating the air chamber 5 with the outside air is opened when combustion and emergency extinction are made and closed when normal extinction is made by means of a stop valve 10 which moves in an interlocking way with the vertical movement of the wick 4. When the wick 4 is lowered to the position of minimum combustion, part of the air flow-through hole 8 is closed by means of the stop valve 10 and, when the wick 4 is further lowered from the position of minimum combustion, the part of the hole 8 closed by means of the valve 10 becomes larger and the air flowing in the air chamber 5 is regulated.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wick lifting/lowering device permitting stable combustion even if the maximum combustion quantity in a wick lifting/lowering type kerosene combustor is changed. SOLUTION: Rotating a wick lifting/lowering shaft 1 to the direction in which a wick is lifted drives a rotating plate 3 through an engaging part 2, and the torque of the rotating plate 3 by a restoring spring 4 is maintained by the engagement of the engaging part 3a of the rotating plate 3 with a stopper 5. The engaging parts 3a of the rotating plate 3 engaging with the stopper 5 are provided at a plurality of locations. The engaging part 3b of the rotating plate 3 engages with the stopper 5 at the lower combustion point, and the engaging part 3c of the rotating plate 3 engages with the stopper 5 at the upper combustion point. A movable rotation stop 6 stopping the rotation of the wick lifting/lowering shaft 1 rotating in the direction in which the wick is lifted is provided, and the engaging part 3c of the rotating plate 3 rotating in the direction in which the wick is lifted by the wick lifting/lowering shaft 1 engages with the stopper 5 to maintain the upper combustion point at the time when the rotation stop 6 is located at a spaced point. The rotation of the wick lifting/lowering shaft 1 is stopped by the rotation stop 6 at the time when the rotation stop 6 is located at the movable point, and the engaging part 3b of the rotating plate 3 engages with the stopper 5 to maintain the lower combustion point. Thereby, combustion can be done by allowing the maximum height of the wick to correspond according to the change in the maximum combustion quantity.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate an emergency extinguishment from an ordinary extingushment and achieve an extinguishing operation by providing a temporary engaging means formed of a solenoid operated by an output from a first delay means on the way of a track of the extinguishing base pin of a wick raising and lowering plate for setting a wick. SOLUTION: A solenoid 21a forming a temporary engaging means 21 urges a temporary urging lever 21b toward the solenoid 21a side under the urging force of a spring so that the rotation of an extinguishing base pin 13 is not interrupted. The temporary engaging lever 21b is projected on a track on which the extinguishing base pin 13 rotates only for a prescribed time upon extinguishment to temporarily stop the rotation of the extinguishing base pin 13 so halfway. Then, the amount of vaporization from a wick 3 is restricted to continue a combustion. After a prescribed time, the delay element of the first delay means 23 is released to turn off the solenoid 21a of the temporary engaging means 21. Accordingly, the temporary: engaging lever 21b returns to an original state and the wick 3 is lowered to a final drop position so that an emergency extinguishment can be discriminated from an ordinary extinguishment to perform an extinguishing operation.
