    • PURPOSE:To reduce creep phenomenon and improve accuracy for controlling nozzle back pressure by a method wherein an electrostriction element is formed by laminating a shim material, piezoelectric ceramic members and thin film electrodes while an area of the electrode is made smaller than that of the piezoelectric ceramic whose one end is directly fixed and held. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric ceramic members 34a, 34b are fixed on both surfaces of a shim material 32 made of a metal plate with adhesive, and thin film electrodes 36a, 36b are stuck on the outer side of the above assembly. Narrow leads 38a, 38b extending from the center parts of the electrodes 36a, 36b to the ends of the piezoelectric ceramic members 34a, 34b are formed, wherein an electrostriction element 30 thus formed is fixed between fixing plates provided on and under the leads 38a, 38b. Therefore, the leads 38a, 38b at parts of the fixing plates are so thin that they can release stretchable portions of the piezoelectric ceramic members 34a, 34b from clamping force of the fixing plates, thereby enabling precise control of nozzle back pressure.
