摘要： The present invention relates to methods for the controlled placement of a curable, shear thinnable polymer composition into a porous web. The controlled placement is performed by applying tension to the porous web. The polymer composition is applied onto a surface of the web. The composition is shear thinned sufficiently to reduce its viscosity and selectively place it into the tensioned web to encapsulate at least some of the structural elements of the web, leaving most of the interstitial spaces of the porous web open. The invention also relates to methods for selectively placing the polymer composition in a substantially continuous region extending through the web so that the polymer composition fills the interstitial spaces and adheres adjacent structural elements in the region. In the areas in the web above and below the filled region, at least some of the structural elements are encapsulated and most of the interstitial spaces are open. The invention also relates to methods for the controlled placement of a polymer composition into a tensioned porous substrate having a matrix of open cells by applying a localized shear force to selectively distribute a curable, shear thinnable polymer composition within the substrate, at least partially individually lining the cell walls of at least some of the cells, and leaving most of the cells open.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a method for coating in which coating defects such as scratches and streaks are avoided in a blade coater for uniformly applying a coating on a web thereto. CONSTITUTION:The characteristic of this method for producing coated paper comprises installing a mesh filter having the characteristic of applying >=10 sec shearing rate to a coating liquid just before feeding thereof to a fountain nozzle 1 in a blade coater for measuring the coating weight on a web by pressurizing a blade 4 on a backing roll 3 after a coating liquid 5 jetted from the fountain nozzle 1 is applied onto the running web 2, forming the mesh filter into a cylindrical in-line type filter in which scrapers are rotated around the cylindrical type mesh filter having the mesh opening size within the range of 30 to 120mum, changing the rotational speed of the scrapers of the mesh filter, thereby controlling the viscosity of the coating liquid just before the application and carrying out the application of the coating liquid after passing through the mesh filter.

The more specific examples of the inorg. pigments or org. pigments to be compounded in the washing liquid for the backing roll include clay, kaolin, titanium dioxide, plastic pigments, such as urea resin pigments and styrene, etc. The average particle sizes of these pigments are adequately about 0.1 to 3mum. This method is particularly extremely effectual when the method is applied to the one side coating machine for the second coat of double side coated paper.
