    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defoaming agent which exhibits an excellent foam inhibition effect and an excellent defoaming effect even at low concentration and further to provide a method for producing paper and a method for clarifying waste water using the defoaming agent.SOLUTION: The defoaming agent contains an oligoester compound shown by following formula (1), wherein Rmay be the same or different and shows a residual group formed by removing a carboxyl group from a dicarboxylic acid, respectively, Rshows a residual group formed by removing two hydroxyl groups from a polyol compound, Rand Rmay be the same or different and shows one chosen from a group composed of a hydrogen atom, a residual group formed by removing a hydroxyl group from 7-36C high alcohol and a residual group formed by removing a hydroxyl group from a 2-4C alkylene oxide adduct of the 7-36C high alcohol, respectively. However Rand Rare not be hydrogen atoms at the same time, n denotes an integer of 1 or more and when n is 2 or more, Rand Rmay be the same or different from each other.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deforming agent composition for a water system which obtains a stable and superior defoaming effect and is produced inexpensively, and to provide a method of producing the same.
      SOLUTION: Fine particles 1 with an average particle size of 3-50 μm of the defoaming agent composed by coating surfaces of a core material 2 consisting of a water-insoluble material with a defoaming component 3 consisting of an aliphatic higher alcohol or the like, are dispersed in an aqueous medium like water. Here, the aqueous medium is set to a temperature not lower than that lower than a pour point T°C of the defoaming component 3 by 10°C, and not higher than the pour point T°C of the defoaming component 3.
