    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare coke having homogeneous strength without using coals having different quality by introducing an additive for increasing the coke strength and/or the bulk density of coal after carbonization into only the center portion of the widthwise direction of a coke oven chamber. SOLUTION: In charging coal 5 from a hopper 14 provided with a coal charging car into a coke oven chamber 3 of a coke oven through a charging chamber cylinder 2, which has been divided into three parts by means of a partition plate 4, an additive 6 for increasing the coke strength and/or the bulk density of coal after carbonization is applied to coal 5 in the course of dropping into a coke oven after take-off from the hopper 14 so that the coal 5 contg. this additive 6 is charged into only the vicinity of the center portion in the widthwise direction of the coke oven chamber 3. Alternatively, the charging rate in the vicinity of the center portion in the widthwise direction of the divided charging cylinder 2 is made higher than that in the other sections. This makes the strength of coke in the widthwise direction of the coke oven chamber capable of being homogneized without requiring a plurality of kinds of coals having different quality.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coal charge car for a coke oven, which makes it possible to perform both the lid removing operation for charge hole cleaning as well as the burning of carbonaceous material on the oven wall at prescribed (1 or 2) charge holes among the next (4 or 5) charge holes and the lid removing operation for burning and removing adherent carbonaceous material at the charge hole after next with the charge car kept stopped when charging coal into a present charge hole on the top of a coke oven. SOLUTION: This charge car is made by forming a plurality of coal charging units 4 on a machine frame 3' of a charge car 3 traveling on a rail 2 installed on the top 1 of a coke oven in the direction perpendicular to the rail 2, attaching a lid remover A on one side of an ascending and descending hood 5 installed below each of the charging units 4 and a horizontal guide 6 on other side in the direction of the rail on a machine frame 3, forming a frame 7 traveling back and forth along the guide 6 and having lid removers B and C directing opposite to each other and provided respectively with lid removing parts B' and C' on both ends of the traveling frame 7 in such a manner that the traveling frame 7 is present over the present charge hole (a) and the next charge hole (b) and can travel to a position over the next charge hole (b) and the charge hole (c) after next, and forming a charge hole cleaning unit 8 directly above the next charge hole (b).

SOLUTION: A horizontal flange 2 is formed around the outside of the lower edge 1 of the part inclined towards the inner direction near the bottom opening of a coal storage hopper 1, a vertical outside strap 3 is fitted to the lower part of the flange 2, an inside strap 4 is arranged in contact with the inside of the strap 3 in such a manner that the lower edge of the inside strap 4 is lower than that of the outside strap 3, a coal-stopping liner 5 thicker than the inside strap 4 is welded to the inside of the strap 4, a bolt hole 6 is bored through the straps 3 and 4, a hole 7 into which the head of a hexagon socket head bolt 9 is to be inserted is bored in the liner 5, a nut 8 is welded to the outside of the strap 3, the bolt 9 is screwed into the nut 8 through the bolt hole 6, and the head 9' of the bolt 9 is inserted into the hole 7.
