    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition capable of improving a fuel economical efficiency, breaking strength and processability in a balanced manner, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: The rubber composition includes silica, an adhesive resin, and a conjugated diene-based polymer obtained by reacting a nitrogen and/or silicon-containing compound with the active terminal of a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer component including a conjugated diene compound and silicon-containing vinyl compound using a polymerization initiator represented by formula (I) (wherein i is 0 or 1; Ris 1-100C hydrocarbylene; Rand Rare each hydrocarbyl which may have substituents or trihydrocarbylsilyl, or hydrocarbylene which may have as a hetero atom, at least one atom selected from the atom group consisting of silicon, nitrogen and oxygen, while Rand Rbond to each other; and M is an alkali metal atom). The content of the conjugated diene-based polymer is ≤90 mass% in 100 mass% of a rubber component, and the content of silica is 5-40 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the rubber component.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer latex useful as a binder of a paper coating composition which emits less odor during the production of a coated paper, gives a less odorous coated paper, is excellent in printability such as coating operability, surface strength, print gloss, ink driability, surface smoothness, and gloss of unprinted paper, and can give a coated paper exhibiting the above printability over a wide range of a printing speed.
      SOLUTION: The copolymer latex is one obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising 20-70 wt.% (a) 1,3-butadiene, 0.1-10 wt.% (b) ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and 20-79.9 wt.% (c) other monomers copolymerizable with monomers (a) and (b), wherein the concentration of the 4-vinylcyclohexene remaining in the copolymer latex is at most 100 ppm based on the solids of the copolymer latex.
