    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and economically produce a granular fertilizer composition which contains a polyphosphate and shows more promising effectiveness in fertilizer effect by mixing expanded vermiculite and a fertilizer component that contains phosphates and a condensation agent together and, thereafter, subjecting the resulting mixture to heat treatment. SOLUTION: The production of the granular fertilizer composition comprises: mixing expanded vermiculite, a fertilizer component that contains phosphates and a condensation agent such as urea, and further, if necessary, other fertilizer components together; thereafter, heating the resulting mixture to 90 to 200 deg.C while tumbling or agitating the mixture to melt the condensation agent to subject the fertilizer component contg. the phosphate to inclusion in the molten condensation agent; and impregnating and/or depositing the resulting material into and/or on the expanded vermiculite to allow polymerization of the phosphates to progress and to produce the objective granular fertilizer composition. The production of the liquid fertilizer composition comprises eluting or extracting water soluble components of the granular fertilizer composition with water or water contg. dissolved fertilizer components and separating insoluble matter to produce the objective liquid fertilizer composition. The production of this pasty fertilizer composition comprises adding water to the granular fertilizer composition and, thereafter, grinding or disintegrating the wet granular fertilizer composition with a means such as a high speed agitator or wet grinder to produce the objective pasty fertilizer composition.
