    • PURPOSE:To promote the efficiency of the local heating operation remarkably and prevent the staining of a plate glass, by heating the plate glass uniformly in a heating furnace, and heating the desired bending part at a high temperature by the operation on the outside of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon heater 21 is fixed at supporting frames (9a) and (9b) of a frame 7 by metallic fixtures 19 to coincide with the desired bending position of a plate glass (G) an moved in a heating furnace 1. A linking member 12 is linked to a rod of a cylinder 13 to fill a groove 14 with a refractory material. The supporting frame 9 is retreated by the cylinder 13, and the heating furnace 1 is operated to carry the plate glass (G) hung from a trolley 4 in the heating furnace 1 and uniformly heat the plate glass (G). The plate glass (G) is then stopped at the position of the frame 7, and the supporting frame 9 is advanced by the cylinder 13 to bring the heater 21 near the given bending part of the plate glass (G). Only the given bending part is heated to a high temperature. After completing the heating, the plate glass (G) is taken out of the heating furnace 1 and moved to the next bending step.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent weeping-willow-shaped fine pieces from aggregating in a central see-through area by keeping the temperature of said area lower than that of the peripheral area at the time of heating a glass plate at above its deformation point and below its softening point. CONSTITUTION:At the time of heating a glass plate 21 to the temperature above its deformation point and below its softening point, a heat shielding plate 25 is disposed to the corresponding part of the glass plate 21 forming a central see-through area to keep the temperature in said area at a temperature lower by 10-50 deg.C than that in the peripheral area. As a result, when the glass plate 21 is air cooled, a difference in cooling capacity occurs between the central see-through area and peripheral area thereof and the plane tensile stress produced in the central see-through area is made low. The shield plate 25 is disposed on both sides of the glass plate 21 and a stainless steel plate, heat-resistant bricks, or stainless steel mesh plate is used for the same. For example, the glass plate 21 is suspended by a carriage 23, and the stainless steel mesh plates 24 are disposed on both sides of the see-through area of the glass plate 21 by subcarriages 24. This is subjected to 2-step heating in a heating furnace to heat the see-through area to about 635 deg.C and the peripheral area to about 656 deg.C. Thereby, the aggreagating of weeping-willow-shaped fine pieces is prevented.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-exhausting annealing furnace for efficiently passing air into a space between glass sheets regardless of the size of the glass sheets.
SOLUTION: This annealing furnace comprises a tunnel-like annealing furnace 1, a conveyor 2 fitted with a means 2a for conveying laminated glass sheets in a substantially upright position through the annealing furnace 1, and air circulation ducts 3 having heating elements 5 and fans 4 for blasting heated air into the space between the laminated glass sheets situated on the conveyor inside the annealing furnace 1. The annealing furnace 1 is fitted on both sides with movable walls 8 for adjusting the furnace width so as for the furnace width to fit the size of a specified glass sheet. Thus, it is possible to effectively pass air into the space between glass sheets regardless of the size of the glass sheets.
