    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a railroad vehicle less increased in temperature by flow passages and paths with superior lubricating oil circulating efficiencies. SOLUTION: In this bearing device, a first flow passage part 53 and second and third flow passage parts 54, 55 the opening ends of which are at the upper side 52a height of the opening of an oil sump on both sides of the first flow passage part are provided to the edge part 51a of an axle box 5. An outer ring 23 is held and fixed by a rear cover side flange 50 and the bearing retaining part 62 of a front cover 6. First to third communication passages 65, 66, 67 are provided to the partition wall 63 of the bearing retaining part. First to third recessed flow passage parts 56, 57, 58 the opening ends of which are at the upper side height of the opening of the oil sump are provided to the rear cover side edge part 51b. A rear annular flow passage 59 is formed of a flange inner peripheral surface 50b and the recessed flow passage parts. A rear cover is made of an aluminum member. A plurality of cooling fins 75 of sheet cylindrical shape are provided to the rear end. A partition member 8 having a projection 81 in the direction of a shaft rear cover is held and fixed between the flange end surface 50a and the flange end surface 72a of a rear cover faucet engagement part.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle box device preventing deterioration of lubricating oil itself accompanied by rise of the temperature of the lubricating oil or early deterioration of a member comprising plastic or rubber, by restraining rise of the temperature of the lubricating oil caused by agitation heat especially during high speed traveling of a railroad vehicle.
      SOLUTION: The axle box device 1 is provided with an oil sump 38 for reserving the lubricating oil in which a rolling element of a rolling bearing is immersed on a lower side than an axial end part in an inside of a housing 5 housing the rolling bearing for supporting the axial end part of an axle and the axial end part. A pocket 58 for temporality keeping the lubricating oil 7 splashed to the upper part than an oil level 57 is provided on the upper part than the oil level 57 of the lubricating oil 7 reserved in the oil sump 38 in the inside of the housing 5, and a narrow hole 62 for returning the kept lubricating oil to the oil sump 38 is provided in the pocket 58.
