When not plain paper (S102-N), based on paper thickness, paper type, and the number of sheets, a pressing amount, namely, a pressing increase amount δn, is selected with respect to the default pressing amount (S104), and the paper is pressed to the contact plate 330 by the selected pressing distance (δ+δn). When user's setting is selected, a pressing increase amount δn is arbitrarily set (S105), and the paper is pressed by the pressing distance (δ+δn) to which the setting amount is added (S106).
