摘要： A process for the production of expanded polyester, in particular PET, is performed by extrusion of polyester starting material have an intrinsic vircosity of at least 0.8 dl/g and an added expanded agent. To this end a twin screw extruder (14) is utilized provided with two interpenetrating screws (26) having a ratio between their axial separation and diameter lying between 0.6 and 0.8 and co-rotating at a speed of between 15 and 40 rpm. Preferably the ratio between the axial separation and diameter of the screws (26) lies between 0.69 and 0.78 and the ratio between the length and diameter of the screws (26) lies between 20 and 26.

Besides, the plastic waste is supplied to the second waste supply port 12 and advanced while being compressed by the screw 5 and the screw 14, and a double-layered structure molding in which the peripheral surface of a rod-shaped extruded material is coated with a doughnut-shaped material is obtained from a casing tip opening.

On the other hand, another plastic material for the inner layer supplied from a hopper 10 to the right-handed screw channel 7b of the external screw 7 is transferred backward to the base of the right-handed screw channel 8a of a left-handedly rotating inner screw 8 through a plurality of holes connecting the outer and the inner channels. The plastic material is transferred forward in a space between the inner wall of the outer screw 7 and the right-handed screw channel 8a of the inner screw 8 to the inner path 20 of the extrusion head 18. The plastic materials introduced into the outer path 19 and the inner path 20 are formed to the desired double-layered form by the extrusion die 22
