    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spline machining method capable of eliminating the need of the frequent exchange of a broach die even if the broach die is worn by repeating machining by the broach die of a resin layer of a spline shaft.
      SOLUTION: After forming a resin layer on a surface of teeth of the spline shaft, while the temperature of the resin layer is raised rather than a normal temperature, the spline shaft is inserted in the broach die, thereby machining the resin layer. Therefore, the spline shaft having an over pin diameter smaller than the case that the resin layer is machined at the normal temperature can be obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably reduce abrasion of a cutting tool by providing a magnetic field generating means for applying a magnetic field to the cutting surface between a workpiece and the cutting tool during working. SOLUTION: In the case cylindrical cutting, a cutting tool (turning tool) 2 is arranged inside an electromagnetic coil 1 in such a manner as to be surrounded with the electromagnetic coil 1 outside the tip part, and a magnetic field is applied to the cutting tool 2. The workpiece 3 is cut by the cutting tool (turning cool) 2. Thus, the cutting tool (turning tool) 2 is arranged inside the electromagnetic coil 1 in such a manner as to be surrounded with the electromagnetic coil 1 except the tip part and the magnetic field is applied to the cutting tool (turning tool) 2, so that the abrasion of the cutting tool (turning tool) 2 can be remarkably reduced. Accordingly, the cutting tool (turning tool) 2 is replaced once one hour or two hours on the average.

The axial position adjustment for the cassette upper part 10 is performed by a position adjusting member 20, and one side of the adjusting member 20 is supported on the parent body 2, and the other side is pressed to the cassette upper part 10. The cassette lower part 9 is fixed by a clamp screw 17 and the cassette upper part 10 is pressed to a limiting wall 8 of a notch part 7 through the support surface 33 to receive the cutting force.

    • PURPOSE:To enable work to be carried out up to finish machining in a single work stage on a turning broach machine for machining a crankshaft by feeding a movable cutter stand with a broaching tool in a slant direction along a guide stand having an intermediate inclined portion. CONSTITUTION:In machining pins P1 and P4 for a crankshaft 'W', two cutter stands 15 are aligned and fixed on a slide table 12, the workpiece 'W' is retained between main shaft devices 7 and 8 via support members 18 and 19, and rotary drive devices 9 and 10 are made to give synchronized rotation. And the slide table 12 of the cutter stands 15 fitted with a broaching tool 14 is feed actuated in a slant direction on a guide stand 11 positioned aslant via a drive device 13, thereby effectuating a turning broaching process. In this case, chips are cut into small pieces by each tooth of the broaching tool 14 and machining heat due to chips is rapidly removed, thereby enabling the finish of a process from initial rough machining to finish machining in a single work stage.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to cut and finish a material by one step in a short time by a method wherein the material is processed to have a finished plane surface on one side surface thereof in a condition in which the deformation of the top end of the material due to a component force of cutting generating at the time of finishing the above-mentioned one side surface of the material. CONSTITUTION:A broach holder 15 is provided with a pair of right and left cutting lanes 16 and 16' for guiding the top end 3(4) of a steering knuckle as the material to be cut. Next, roughly processed surface 23(24) and sacrificial processed surface 11(12) are formed on one side surface and the other side surface, respectively, of the base section of the steering knuckle by progressive broaches 17a-17d and 18a-18d in a condition in which the top end 3(4) of the steering knuckle is rightly positioned. Further, the broaches 18a-18d are brought into contact with the sacrificial processed surface 23(24) so as to prevent the top end of the steering knuckle from bending at the time of surface broach processing. Thus it is possible to cut and finish the steering knuckle as the material by one step in a short time.
