    • PURPOSE:To carry-out the finishing work for a gear with high accuracy by meshing with a worked gear and a toothed tool having a gear shape or rack shape free from backlash and driving the toothed tool and the worked gear so as to roll in meshed state. CONSTITUTION:A worked gear 1 which is obtained by roughly cutting a spur gear is fastened onto an installation shaft 2, and meshed with a toothed tool 3 free from backlash. The installation shaft 2 and a tool shaft 4 are revolution- driven in synchronization so that the worked gear 1 and the toothed tool 3 are engaged and revolved, and further, the toothed tool 3 is moved in reciprocation along the axis line 6 of the tool shaft as shown by the arrow 7. Through the sliding contact in the direction of the tooth trace of the tooth surfaces of the both of the worked gear 1 and the toothed tool 3 due to the reciprocating movement, the tooth surface of the gear 1 can be finish-worked with high accuracy.
