    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which reduces frequency of divisionally recording a variable image of recorders, which is controlled by different controller, based on variable data.SOLUTION: P (fifteen) recording heads 33A, 33B are arranged in two rows and in a zigzag alignment on a recording unit 30. The P recording heads 33A, 33B are divided into N (two) groups in the sub-scanning direction (the vertical direction in Figure). The N (two) controllers respectively control the recording heads 33A, 33B belonging to a corresponding group. Therefore, the number of boundaries (M/S boundary lines BL) between respective recording regions (a master recording region and a slave recording region) of the recording heads 33A, 33B controlled by different controllers becomes the minimum number, that is, N-1 (one).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that can determine the number of times of scanning required for completing the printing of a partial region on a print medium so as to be suitable for both a printer and an image to be printed.SOLUTION: The number of times of main scanning of a partial region is determined to be N times (N is an integer of 2 or more) when a representative input gray-scale value is included in a permissible gray-scale value range dependent on the actual error amount of the conveyance amount, otherwise the number of times of main scanning of a partial region may be determined to be M times (M is an integer larger than N). Alternatively, the number of times of main scanning of a partial region is determined to be N times (N is an integer of 2 or more) when the actual error amount goes below a permissible error amount corresponding to the representative input gray-scale value, otherwise the number of times of main scanning of a partial region may be determined to be M times (M is an integer larger than N).
