摘要： In a packet switched network, network data can be recorded for measurement by transmitting a measurement packet (14) across the network to store path records as it travels from an originating measurement device (18) to a destination device. Some of the network devices (16) located along the path traversed by the measurement packet (14) are capable of recognizing that the measurement packet (14) no longer has any further storage capacity for path records. The network device (16) then copies or clones the measurement packet (14) and erases the path record data from the original measurement packet (14). The original measurement packet (14) then continues on its path to the destination address collecting further path records on the way, while the cloned packet is returned to the measurement host (18) for processing of the path records when all cloned packets and the original measurement packet return to the measurement host (18).

摘要： A method for transmitting transmit data associated with a bi-directional data flow between a first host computer and a second host computer. The first host computer and the second host computer are coupled via a computer network. The method includes storing transmit-facilitating parameters employed for the transmitting the transmit data in a first control block. The first control block is implemented in the first host computer and associated with the bi-directional data flow. The transmitting the transmit data is performed in accordance with the TCP protocol. The method also includes employing the transmit-facilitating parameters in the first control block to facilitate servicing a transmit request pertaining to a given portion of the transmit data from the first host computer to the second computer. In accordance with this embodiment of the invention, the servicing the transmit request occurs simultaneously with servicing a receive request pertaining to receive data associated with the bi-directional data flow from the second host computer by the first host computer. The receive data is received using receive-facilitating parameters stored in a second control block implemented in the first host computer. The receive data is received in accordance with the TCP protocol.

摘要： A system and methods of uploading payload data to user buffers in system memory and of uploading partially processed frame data to legacy buffers allocated in Operating System memory space are described. User buffers are stored in a portion of system memory allocated to an application program, therefore data stored in user buffers does not need to be copied from another portion of system memory to the portion of system memory allocated to the application program. When partially processed frame data is uploaded by hardware to a legacy buffer in system memory, a tag, uniquely identifying the legacy buffer location is transferred by the hardware to a TCP stack, enabling the TCP stack to locate the legacy buffer.
