摘要： System and method for equalizing an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed signal having been encoded by spreading subcarriers in the frequency domain using orthogonal codes includes receiving the signal at a receiver (300), demodulating the signal to produce demodulated information, producing a spread frequency domain representation of the demodulated information, determining an equalized representation by adjusting the power and phase of the spread frequency domain representation at least one frequency based on adjustment values, de-spreading the equalized spread frequency domain representation using the orthogonal codes to produce a de-spread frequency domain representation including received subcarriers, determining a subcarrier value for each of the received subcarriers, orthogonally spreading the determined subcarrier values using the orthogonal codes to produce a model spread frequency representation, calculating expected error values based upon the model spread frequency representation and the equalized spread frequency domain representation, and calculating new adjustment values based upon the expected error values.

In one scheme, a filter selection metric is determined for a signal to be recovered, a channel estimation filter is selected based on the filter selection metric, and a channel estimate is derived with the selected channel estimation filter. In another scheme, a first channel estimate is derived with a first channel estimation filter having a first filter response, a first signal is recovered with the first channel estimate, and interference due to the first signal is estimated and removed. A second channel estimate is derived with a second channel estimation filter having a second filter response that is different from the first filter response.

A delay in the subband is estimated at a high resolution of a multipath parameter on the basis of a sounding signal which is transmitted only in the subband, a channel impulse response of the subband is acquired on the basis of the delay, and proper software coupling arising from the result is used, thus extracting a channel estimation value which accurately interpolates a gap between the measured subbands, and the channel model.
