    • PURPOSE:To decrease the required number of bits of a D/A converter by providing two adaptive digital filters and canceling roughly echo by one filter and then canceling the remaining echo by the other. CONSTITUTION:An output of the D/A converter 9 is inputted to the adaptive digital filter (ADF1)51 via switches 141, 142 by a signal from a timing generating circuit 15. An output of the ADF151 is supplied to an adder 131 via D/A converters 61, 62 and an echo replica depending on the transmission data supplied to an input terminal 1 appears at an output of the adder 131.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canceler apparatus which performs the cancellation of echoes/crosstalk even when a phase shift exists in a sampling clock by suppressing the increase of a circuit scale.
      SOLUTION: The canceler apparatus includes a sub-canceler 104 which compensates the phase shift of sampling of a plurality of analog to digital conversion circuits 101 and 102 which input analog signals in common, convert into digital signals according to the sampling clock signal of distinct phase and output, a main canceler 103 which cancels the echoes/crosstalk after the sampling phase shift is compensated, and a compensating range selecting circuit 105 which determines the compensating range of the phase shift of the sub-canceler 104 based on the tap factors of the main canceler 103.
