    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for monitoring optical signal quality that can monitor wavelength dispersion and optical SNR and is applicable for NRZ optical signal.
      SOLUTION: An input binary intensity-modulated light signal to be monitored is split into three signal beams. Average intensity is detected from any of the branched optical signals. The signal intensity of frequency corresponding to a bit rate is detected from one branched optical signal, and after the other branched optical signal and an optical signal delayed by a specified time only are interfered, the signal intensity of frequency corresponding to the bit rate in the interference signal is detected. Otherwise, after two interference signals with different delay times are obtained, the signal intensity of frequency corresponding to the bit rate in each of the interference signals is detected. With the detected average intensity set as a reference, the relative intensity of each detected intensity is obtained, and then a wavelength dispersion and optical SNR of the optical signal to be monitored or a trend of change in wavelength dispersion and optical SNR is determined.
