    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for deciding a recording area, and a recording/reproducing device, wherein while errors are liable to occur relatively due to disk warpage (causing surface wobbling during rotation) or the like because of separation of a disk from a center, from the first shifted middle area of a first recording layer (0-th layer L0) to the fixed middle area of an outer peripheral side, and from the fixed middle area of the outer peripheral side to the second shift middle area of a second recording layer (1st layer L1), these areas are not used for a disk where errors are actually liable to occur in these areas. SOLUTION: A first shifted middle area is disposed in a predetermined position more on an inner peripheral side than the outer peripheral side end position of the layer 0 of a one-sided multilayer recording disk, and a second shifted area is disposed in the position of a layer 1 facing the first shifted middle area disposed in the layer 0. Accordingly, a recording area from the layer 0 to the layer 1 is folded back in the second shifted middle area, and an area located more on an outer peripheral side than the first and second shifted middle areas where errors are liable to occur relatively, is not used any more.
