    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance processing efficiency as compared with a system which divides image data of a page into processing units in accordance with the number of auxiliary processing devices, while keeping all the auxiliary processing devices in effective use.SOLUTION: Each DRP executes data input/output and data processing in parallel, and thereby can handle two processing units simultaneously. Here, it is assumed that while individual DPRs process image data of one page, image data in an intermediate format of three pages is input from a RIP section 10 to a division portion 12. In this case, the division section 12 finds "number of DRPs"×"number of process units that one DRP can handle simultaneously"/"page parallelism"=6×2/3=4 as the suitable number of divisions. Individual pages are each divided into four process units (for example, tile). A distribution section 14 distributes respective process units as division results to the respective DRPs in increasing page order.
