    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide support mechanism and an attenuation mechanism which are easy to manufacture and assemble. SOLUTION: In a waveguide suspension 2 and a module structure for a sound waveguide 4, an attenuation element 6 is installed for use with the waveguide 4 that generates twisted distortion waves or longitudinal distortion waves by transferring a current pulse. The attenuation element 6, which has a sleeve 27 surrounding the waveguide and a mechanism 29 applying a pressure to the sleeve 27, is used for a protection of a reflection of a sound distortion wave. By applying the pressure to the waveguide 4, the sleeve 27 causes gradual attenuation of the sound distortion wave energy along the length of the waveguide 4 surrounded by the sleeve 27 of the attenuation element and protects the reflection of the sound distortion waves. The position of a return conductor 1 is determined by the response of the measuring system, and ringing of the signal received from a pick up coil 13 can be suppressed to a minimum level.
