摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow velocity detector for detecting flow velocity noncontact to fluid having a simple constitution, which will not generate the phenomenon of rising fluid temperature and has a wide dynamic range.
SOLUTION: A thermo module, whose heat conduction surface is provided in contact with the pipe 1, has a heating/cooling means 2 attached to the outside of a pipe 1, in which a fluid R flows, and a temperature detection means 3 for detecting the temperature from the outside of the pipe is provided downstream of the pipe 1; and the heating/cooling means 2 is constituted of a Peltier element. The temperature detection means 3 is constituted of a capacitor 31 so that one electrode constituting an oscillator 32 is arranged close to the pipe 1. There are provided a power source 4 alternatingly supplying the heating/cooling means 2 with voltages in heating direction and cooling direction, a phase detection means 5 for comparing the phase of the voltage supplied to the heating/cooling means 2 and the phase of the temperature detected by the temperature detection means 3 and outputting a time difference (t), and an arithmetic means 6 for calculating flow velocity, based on the time difference (t).

摘要： Fluid flows through a conduit. To measure flow speed the fluid is heated at a heating location in the conduit with a time-dependent heating strength. A speed of sound in fluid flowing in the conduit is measured at a plurality of sensing locations downstream from said heating location. The flow speed of the fluid is determined from a delay with which the time dependence is detected in the sound speeds measured at said sensing locations. In an embodiment a frequency of the variation of heating strength that is used to determine the flow speed is selected automatically dependent on the flow speed and/or other circumstances.
