    • PURPOSE:To reduce the axial length of a labyrinth and to shorten the whole axial length by providing power gaps on the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of a driven member incorporating an exciting coil. CONSTITUTION:A driven member 10 has an exciting coil 14 in the interior thereof, and the periphery of the exciting coil 4 is a magnetic field forming part 16. The first and second driving members 20, 30 are disposed at the powder gaps 56, 58 on the inner and outer peripheral sides of the driven member 10. In order to prevent magnetic powder disposed in the first and second powder gaps 46, 48 from leaking out from the powder gaps, there are provided labyrinths 80, 82, 84, 86 corresponding to the power gasp 56, 58. The labyrinths may be only one row on one side to reduce the axial length.
