    • PURPOSE: In preparing the titled substance useful as an intermediate for dye, agricultural chemicals, etc. from a mixture of dichlorotoluene isomers, to improve its purity and recovery ratio, by adding an adsorbent of faujasite type zeolite and a substituted benzene compound as a solvent to the mixture.
      CONSTITUTION: The desired compound is obtained from a mixture of dichlorotoluene isomers by separation through adsorption in the presence of an adsorbent of faujasite type zeolite and a substitued benzene compound such as preferably o-xylene, p-chlorotoluene, 1,2,3-trimethylbenzene, etc. as a solvent at room temperature W350°C, preferably at 50W250°C at atmospheric pressure W50kg/ cm

      2 .G. Chromato-partial recovery, or continuous adsorption separation by pseudo-moving bed process may be applied as the separation through adsorption. The concentration of the solvent in the adsorption separation system is preferably ≥15wt% in the mixture of dichlorotoluene isomers containing the solvent.
