    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide unslaked lime which does not absorb moisture from the atmosphere to be slaked even when stored for a long period of time in an open condition by enhancing storage stability of the unslaked lime (including calcined dolomite) and which can be hydrated whenever it is subjected to hydration reaction, to provide a method for producing the same, and to provide a method for allowing the unslaked lime to be hydrated at a desired point of time to safely utilize the generated heat. SOLUTION: The surface of the particles of unslaked lime is provided with a coating of an acrylic rubber, a carboxy-modified nitrile rubber, or a mixture thereof. In hydration, the coating is treated with a hydrating water containing a surfactant which is a quaternary ammonium salt as a trigger substance to destroy the coating.
