    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the thermal conductivity of a glass product forming blank mold and blow mold.
      SOLUTION: The thermal conductivity of the glass product forming blank mold of Ni-resistant ductile cast iron and the blow mold is selectively adjusted by formation of close packing graphite in the fine structure of the mold during preparation of a melt and casting of a mold body. More preferably the concentrations of the magnesium and sulfur in the cast iron composition of the Ni-resistant ductile cast iron of type D5 by ASTM-A439-84 are decreased to a range of 0.01 to 0.04 mass% of the magnesium and a range of 0.00 to 0.01 mass% of the sulfur and in addition, titanium is added in a range of 0.10 to 0.25 mass% to the cast iron composition, by which the close packing graphite is formed in the cast fine structure of the mold body. The formation of the close packing graphite in the cast fine structure is usually considered undesirable for the glass forming mold but the formation of the graphite of the amount which can be distinctly recognized in spite of the small amount is found to afford a chance of selectively regulating the thermal conductivity characteristics of the mold body in compliance with the requirement.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent bulging of a body and the occurrence of a defect in the distinctiveness of a seam line without raising the temperature of a molding surface of a forming mold at the time of forming, save energy and make an uneven pattern such as a crepe pattern clearly appear on the surface of a glass molded product. SOLUTION: The problem is solved by using a mold having a thermal emissivity of the molding surface of 0.85 or more. In order to make the thermal emissivity into 0.85 or more, a coating film of a substance having high thermal emissivity is formed on the molding surface. As the coating film, there are black rust, plating and PVD treatment of black chromium etc. and a black body coating material etc. The black rust can be easily formed by performing heat treatment, after applying an acid solution to the molding surface.
