    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yarn winder capable of suppressing the generation of a growth ring and the occurrence cob-webbing by changing a control method for a traverse width in an accelerated winding zone flexibly according to, for example, a yarn winding method.
      SOLUTION: An automatic winder comprises a package drive motor 41, a traverse drive motor 45, and a traverse width shortening part 63. The traverse drive motor 45 drives a traverse guide 11 for traversing a yarn 20 wrapped around a winding bobbin 22 rotated by the package drive motor 41 so as to reciprocate. The traverse width shortening part 63 comprises a shortened width constant mode in which the traverse drive motor 45 is so controlled that a traverse is performed in the accelerated winding zone in a constant shortened traverse width smaller than the target traverse width according to the initial traverse width set by a setter 51 and a shortened width changing mode in which the traverse drive motor 45 is so controlled that a traverse is performed in a traverse width continuously increased from the shortened traverse width when a winding speed is increased.
