    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device that suppresses a load on a driving unit with a simple configuration, and an image forming apparatus using the conveying device.SOLUTION: An endless belt 61 has a plurality of holes 61a formed on a surface to convey paper P. A suction unit 64 sucks an air A through the holes 61a to have the paper P adsorbed on the conveyance surface 610 of the endless belt 61, and thereby the paper P can be stable conveyed. An opening 65a is formed to have an opening width KH larger than a belt width BH of the endless belt 61. The thus formed opening 65a has an end width TH on both side thereof. The end width TH is formed, for example, to be 5 mm to 10 mm, so that the endless belt 61 does not come into contact with both ends of the opening 65a even when the endless belt 61 meanders. With this configuration, the endless belt 61 comes into contact with the suction unit 64 in a small area, and thereby suppressing a load on a driving unit 62a.

    • PURPOSE:To keep the planeness of a sheet to read an image with a high precision, by raising a suction pressure at the start time of sheet carrying and lowering the suction pressure at the time when it is confirmed that the sheet is carried for a prescribed distance. CONSTITUTION:When the front end of a storage-type phosphor sheet 10 comes to a position a little before a prescribed position where a laser light 205 scans, air suction with a sufficiently high negative pressure is started in a suction box 203a, and the sheet 10 is brought closely into contact with a perforated belt 201. When it is detected by a detector 214 that the front end of the sheet 10 is irradiated with the laser light 205, the negative pressure of the box 203a is lowered to prevent the vibration of the sheet 10 due to an air sucking blower. When the upper part of a box 203b is covered completely with the sheet 10, suction of the sheet 10 is started, and the sheet 10 brought closely into contact with the belt 201 is carried in a uniform velocity with a high precision while keeping its planeness. Consequently, the image is read with a high precision without the variance of reading because of the planeness of the sheet and carrying under the uniform velocity.

The rolling roller 560 includes a plurality of unit rollers 560a and 560c which are disposed in the main scanning direction perpendicular to the conveying direction. The width of the unit rollers 560c positioned at the lateral center of the recording medium is wider than that of the unit rollers 560a positioned on both end sides of the recording medium.
