摘要： PURPOSE:To secure a bathtub-like member on the roof of an automobile under vacuum attraction. CONSTITUTION:A bathtub-like member 3 is put on the roof 2 of an automobile 3 upside-down, and an air discharge port 7 is connected with an air-discharging device 10 through a hollow pipe 9. When the engine of the automobile is started, air in the space between the roof 2 and the bathtub-like member 3 is discharged due to the action of discharge pressure of exhaust gas so that a vacuum condition is effected, thereby attracting force is applied between the roof 2 and the member 3 which is therefore secured on the roof 2. Then, by closing an air shut- off valve 8, air-tightness is maintained due to a soft material member 5 so that the bathtub member 3 is held on the roof 2. Then, when the engine is stopped and the shut-off valve 8 is opened, a vacuum condition between the member 3 and the roof 2 is released, thereby the member 3 may be removed.

The roof box has an electric length varying mechanism where one side is connected to the storage member and the other side is connected to the opening/closing lid, and an operating means for the length varying mechanism.
