    • PURPOSE:To enable an ink ribbon to be easily fitted and prevent it from slipping off, by providing a ribbon guide capable of being moved relatively to an ink ribbon in the feeding direction of the ribbon which is exposed to the exterior, in an ink ribbon cassette for a printer. CONSTITUTION:After fixing a main body 1a of the ink ribbon cassette to a frame of the printer, the ribbon guide 3 is fixed at a predetermined position of a carriage, and the tip of a wire head is made to front on a window 3e. The ribbon guide 3 has a main body 3a provided with projected parts 3b, 3c having a height larger than the thickness of the ribbon 2, a ribbon mask 3d is fixed to the main body 3a through the projected parts 3b, 3c, and the ribbon 2 is passed through a gap part. The guide 3 is moved relatively to the ribbon 2 as the carriage is moved, and printing is conducted by operating the tip of a wire through windows 3e, 3f. Since the ribbon 2 is passed through a slit in the ribbon guide 3, it can not slip off.

    • PURPOSE:To enable to easily set a ribbon, by a method wherein a guide member is provided with a guide surface for a printing paper on the side on which it is faced to a platen, and is provided with a guide surface for a ribbon on the other side. CONSTITUTION:The guide members 102, 104 are erected at the tips of turnable arms 92, 94, and a small-diameter guide parts 102b, 104b provided on base parts of the guide members 102, 104 constitute paper guide surfaces (p) on the platen side. The other side of the guide parts 102b, 104b are cut away at intermediate parts over a length l to constitute ribbon guide surfaces (r). When fitting a thermal head 46, the ribbon is brought into contact with the guide surfaces (r) of the guide members 102, 104, and is fitted laterally as indicated by a dot-dash line. When printing, the thermal head 46 is pressed against the platen 40 through a thermal ribbon 106 as indicated by the solid line. Accordingly, since a paper and the ribbon are guided by common guide members, manufacture is facilitated, and the ribbon can be set easily.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a line defect from being printed on a pigment receiver.
      SOLUTION: In the pigment transfer receiver, a longitudinal tension is applied to a donorweb having a plurality of continuous pigment transfer areas and opposite longitudinal end areas extending along respective pigment transfer areas when the donorweb is fed to a printer. The longitudinal tension can stretch the pigment transfer area not shorter than the end area because the end area is not heated although the pigment transfer area is heated. Resistance against stretch of the end area can be weakened as compared with the pigment transfer area so that the end area can be stretched substantially equally to the pigment transfer area. When the end area along the end of a pigment transfer area under use is stretched substantially equally to the pigment transfer area, possibility of creasing in next not-yet-used transfer area is reduced substantially.
